Don’t forget about Shomi
Posted by Andrew Nealon in Digital Frames on 11 20th, 2008| icon3No Comments »

We spend a lot of time here on the GiiNii blog talking about GiiNii digital photo frame, which makes sense. But, did you know there is a whole different line of frames that are just a great? They are called Shomi digital picture frames and there are a number of simple, sharp designs to choose from.

The best part about Shomi frames are their simplicity. You don’t need to worry about a bunch of features you won’t use and don’t need to pay for. If you just want a simple frame that will display your pictures, Shomi is for you.

It’s like Roco said, just set it and forget it! Load you pictures, hang the frame on the wall and walk away. You won’t need to worry about sound or video or any of the other features that can get in the way if you don;t want them.

So, if you are looking for  a simple frame with easy to use features and a great price. Show yourself a Shomi!

A question that often occurs when it comes to digital photo frames is that they are ok for new images captured on a new digital camera.

However, what if there is someone who has a nice collection of old photographs, you know the ones which used 35 mm film and cost a fortune to get them developed only to have them put into an old box never to be seen again.

So getting this type of image onto the digital photo frame is going to be easier than you think, but you are going to need to equipment. First up a computer and a scanner, a lot of people already own a scanner but have probably never used it at all.

But now there is a great reason to dig the scanner out, because with this tool you can copy your old photographs onto the memory of the computer. Once stored on the hard drive it is only a matter of copying them onto the memory card that goes with the digital photo frame. You may need a card reader for this, although a lot of computers have this facility these days.

That is more or less it; the great thing about having these images on the computer is that they are always going to be safe.

Of course if you do not want to go about it in this manner, then you could always take the photographs to a processor who can put them onto a CD, then all you would need to do is put the CD into your computer.

How to use Auto-Rotate
Posted by Andrew Nealon in Digital Frames on 11 19th, 2008| icon3No Comments »

We’ve had some questions here at GiiNii about the Auto-Rotate feature and how to use it. And, while the solution is really simple, a lot of people think it is a menu feature or a button-activated option. However, it’s as simple as rotating the frame.

That’s right, to change the direction of a photo from landscape to portrait mode all you need to do is pick up the frame and rotate it the direction you want it to be presented. Then, sit the frame back down. When the next picture loads, it should automatically be presented in the correct direction. Just walk away and let the frame do the work.

There is no need to go into the menu at all. GiiNii’s technology is advanced to the point where the frame recognizes its own direction. Isn’t technology great?

If you have any other questions about your GiiNii frame or its features, leave them in the comments and someone will address them in a future post.

Until then, keep snapping photos and loading them onto your GiiNii digital photo frames!

There are still many people who know little about the digital photo frame phenomenon, which means that there are always going to be questions which need to be answered, which is why we post these articles.

Most people know about digital photographs, a digital photo frame is an extension of this sector, which enables the users to display their photographs in a more technical manner, rather than just taking a photo and putting into a frame.

There is nothing around that can compare to a digital photo frame, they offer not only a way of displaying a collection of images, but the user can also add music and video too, so you can see the potential that a digital photo frame can offer.

All that the new user would need to know is what they would want to do with a digital photo frame and of course how much they would want to spend.

However, these days there are so many digital photo frames around, these range from small one inch key ring style frames, right up to a massive thirty two inch display but this type of frame would not be for the beginner.

The average digital photo frame is around eight to ten inches; these will offer the best value for money and have the best features for the new user to get acquainted with. The technology has moved on so far that there are digital photo frames that offer printing, emailing, Wi-Fi and internal memory with of course will vary from make to make.

At the end of the day a digital photo frame is a great piece of the technology which has a lot to offer and will give the users so much joy that they will want to give them away to friends and family too.
