Nikon and Microsoft continue to roll out news
Posted by Andrew Nealon in Digital Cameras on 08 28th, 2008 |

So, Nikon just let fly the new D90 with Eye-Fi compatibility. Microsoft just launched an online photo service with Samsung. What’s next? Another partnership.

The world’s largest software company and one of the most trusted names in cameras have formed a partnership to allow each other to use the others technology to advance new designs.

While specific details aren’t yet out, Nikon will be paying Microsoft for the deal.

Speculations are all over the place, but it seems like the companies want to use each others’ tech to improve future products.

So, does that mean better digital cameras built into PCs? Does that mean more WiFi developments for digital cameras? Does that mean Apple kids are stuck if they have a Nikon?

More than anything, it seems the Nikon folks are saying that the deal will allow for new technology in the camera world. I’m excited to see what the two groups come up with, even though I don’t trust Microsoft all that well.

Could this mean the first Nikon camera to freeze and crash?

Stay tuned for more updates, I’ll be watching this one unfold.
