Well, it’s not breaking news exactally, but a few people have done some digging to find out what projects Microsoft and Nikon have worked on in the past. And, because I said I’d keep you up on developments of the new partnership between the two companies, here’s the latest.
According to a Nikon spokesman, the two companies have done so far:
Joint work on wireless camera technologies, including a proof-of-concept demo by Bill Gates at CES 2005. Collaboration [between Microsoft and Nikon] to develop a RAW (NEF) codec for Windows to support Nikon’s RAW image files in Windows. Nikon had its camera’s logo certified and participated in Vista co-marketing and launch activities. Nikon provided detailed feedback on Microsoft HD Photo, much of which Microsoft incorporated into the product.
So far, there hasn’t been anything major between the two companies, but some of the joint projects might give a few clues as to what the two big players are up to togethere. Most in the blog world seem to think it has something to do with wireless features, and I would bet big money that’s the case.
Okay, sorry, enough about Nikon today.
