SanDisk sets new speed levels
Posted by Andrew Nealon in Digital Photo Gadgets on 09 3rd, 2008 |

Just when you though digital photography couldn’t get any faster, SanDisk comes along and speeds the whole process up. That’s right, big menory card news people!

The Extreme III line of cards can send and receive 30 MB of information per second. That’s pretty fast.

Nikon’s D90 is the first camera to take advantage of the Extreme III full capabilities. All-in-all, it adds up to a 50 percent speed boost when in the Nikon, making it possible to snap 39 images without a rest. That’s at 4.5 frames per second, too.

I assume the new card will also help with the D90 video recording feature, which will need a speedy memory card.

The new cards will hit the Asian market in September, with a worldwide launch soon after, I expect. They might set you back al ittle, though. It’s $69.00 for the 4GB card, $136.00 for the 8GB card, and $269.00 for the 16GB card. Yikes! But worth it for such speed.
