Sigma has tried to make a splash in the high-end compact camera market before, but this time, the DP2 might do the trick.
The 14-megapixel shooter has the same body and sensor as it’s predecessor, but many of the features have been improved. The built-in 24.2mm lens shoots at F2.8 now
The biggest change is in the processor, though. The DP2 will use the TRUE II processor — the same brain inside the company’s new SLR. Sluggish performance is what hurt the DP2’s older brother, so hopefully the new brains will help make this little compact shooter a pro photographer’s best friend for scouting and walking around.
I’ve been looking for a little scout camera for a while now, but I don’t know if the Sigma is for me. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good walk-around scout camera? Something pro-end with the compact nature of a point-and-shoot? I have trouble leaving my lens kits behind, but sometimes you just can’t take it all with you, you know?
