So, if you saw yesterday my post on Samsung’s new wireless USB solution for syncing a camera ad a computer, I have new information about it.
Samsung announced the new set of dongles, one for the camera and one for the computer, that can be used with any digital camera to sync to any computer.
Called NaBee, the system comes as a bit of a surprise, as I figured the dongle’s would be restricted to Samsung products. But it looks like they are going for the whole market.
From Samsung’s press release:
Samsung’s NaBee allows for a simple, high-speed wireless communication between a digital still camera and PC. Plug the miniature dongle into the camera USB connector, and its matching dongle into the PC and it connects just like a standard USB cable. NaBee will be available from all major catalog and online resellers, as well as selected retail outlets in December 2008.
Pretty neat. Again, I’ll say that Im nt sure how groundbreaking this really is. Mostly, it just cuts one cord out of the deal. It will be more interesting to see if the NaBee will work with SLRs and will allow for wireless tethers. That would be a neat addition to the bag of tricks.
