For the second year in a row, Nikon won the nod in J.D.Power and Assoc. 2008 “camera usage and satisfaction” study. More specifically, Nikon’s line of professional SLRs, the D series, took the top of the list by storm. However, Canon swooped up the list, as well, tying for the top spot.
Both camera companies received high marks, with Nikon taking full points in overall rating, operation and performance, while Canon topped out on picture quality and overall rating.
Canon got hit for it’s product design, while Nikon received a lower rating in image quality.

Olympus, Pentax and Sony all received two points in the overall rating category, confirming my long-held prejudices against the minor three SLR makers.
So, if you are in the market for an SLR, that price bump for a Canon or Nikon is well worth the work. However, as far as which to go with, J.D. is no help at all.
Where do your loyalties lie?
