There are already a few cameras out there with technology that is supposed to help photographers snap better pictures by sensing when the subjects are blinking. But a new development from Tessera Technologies should make the blink feature more prominent in future camera lines.
Tessera Technologies’ FotoNation BlinkCheck technology, which can be licensed by camera makers and used in compact cameras and cell phones, will check each subject’s eyes to make sure they are open when the sutter button is pressed.
If a picture is taken with someone blinking, the tech brings up a menu that warns the user that there were some blinking eyes.
This is what Tessera is saying:
“Our FotoNation BlinkCheck technology is a fast, flexible, high-performance solution that brings users of DSCs and mobile phone cameras another step closer to perfect portraits of their families and friends, without the need to be an expert photographer,” said Michael Bereziuk, executive vice-president, Imaging and Optics, Tessera.
“It represents the most recent addition to our comprehensive offering of imaging solutions that are transforming the next generation of camera-enabled devices, opening up new and exciting applications.”
There are no announcements yet as to what cameras might integrate the new technology.
Is this a feature that needs to be on cameras? Is it a selling point for you?
