How to know what memory card to use
Posted by David Allen in Digital Frames on 11 11th, 2008 |

A lot of digital photo frames come a some internal memory but what is really great about GiiNii digital photo frame is that they have no internal memory; therefore, no computer is needed to load the photos into the frame.

All a frame owners has to do to is simply remove the memory card from their digital camera and put into the digital photo frame, you will then get the same image on the frames display, as you would have done on the cameras viewing screen.

You can now choose which photo you want to display, or go for something a little more spectacular like a slideshow, where the photos are displayed in an ordered manner one after each other, some frames even have the provision for the addition of sound.

However, what card will best suit the purpose? Below is chart, which will show the user exactly what size of memory card offers the best capacity according to the size and resolution.

Photo Resolution    Memory Card Photo Capacity*
……………………..256MB    512MB    1GB    2GB    4GB
3 Megapixels    219           438         876    1752     3504
4 Megapixels    134           268         538    1077     2152
5 Megapixels    100           200         403      807     1612
6 Megapixels      84           168         336      673     1344
7 Megapixels      38            77          154      307       614
8 Megapixels      20            40            80      161       323
*Average file size using “high-resolution” JPEG mode

This chart show the user what card to buy depending on what is required, there is nothing worse than going through all of the motions to produce a great photo slideshow for your family only to have the memory run out on you.
