How TV’s are becoming digital photo frames
Posted by David Allen in Digital Frames on 01 7th, 2009 |

LG will be displaying their latest TV, this will have the ability to display a static picture whenever the TV is put into standby mode, this is all well and good but this TV is a forty seven inch display so the price is going to comparable with that of a TV of that size.

There are power issues with this too, LG claim that by putting the TV into standby mode, there will be reduction of around ten to fifteen per cent in power consumption, which is little to worry about.

Therefore, although these devices are coming through now, the cost in both money and power are too great in order to threaten the digital photo frame, these devices still offer great value and use little power when being operated.

There are a wide range of choices too, just take a look at the GiiNii 8″ Digital Slim (DS) Digital Photo Frame, it has 128 Mb of built in memory, video and Mp3 playback, and a multi card reader too all for just $89.99, now there are not many devices that can offer so much for so little, these days.

So the day of the TV taking over from the digital photo frame may be coming, but it is not quite here yet.
