Digital photo frames really have taken off since last couple years of introduction and improvements.  You can see a chart on Google Trends of how many more people are searching for digital photo frames, especially at the end of the year.  We believe there will also be a bigger spike than ever this year for people searching and buying digital photo frames near the end of the 2008 season.

We have combined some data and analysis for you to prove that GiiNii digital photo frames have the best price in relation to features.  (We’ve included links to other digital photo frames too so we are not biased into making you buy our GiiNii digital photo frames.  But yes, GiiNii proves to be the most budget-buyer-friendly)

We hope you enjoy our reviews.  It should definitely help you choose the right digital photo frame whether that’s for yourself or a Christmas gift to your parents/loved ones.

As far as price goes, GiiNii’s 7″ digital frame proves to be the best.  But to be fair, if you wanted to get some good internal memory of 512MB, you’d go with the Pandigital 7″, which is priced at $99.99 but offers the most internal memory of all.  (But do think about the cost of memory cards these days, you could easily buy the cheaper digital photo frame then spend $25 extra on 2GB memory.)

If you wanted to go for the best screen resolution with the best prices, I’d have to say Smartparts offers the best bang for your buck with its 800×480 pixel resolution and 128MB internal memory.

For 8″ digital photo frames, GiiNii offers clear advantage over SmartParts with slightly better resolution of 800×600 over 800×480 pixels.  Of course, you’d pay a little more but we’d say the extra resolution and ability to accept 7 different types of memory cards is worth the extra 20 bucks.  Coby also offers a competitive price but there’s no internal memory (as far as we know, there’s nothing about it on the Sears website), that’s a no-go as you will have to spend extra on a memory card.

We gave you the numbers, please feel free to choose the right frames for you and we have many helpful articles to help you choose below.

Features to Look For

Our blogger Andrew Nealon has a great article on the Top 5 Features you should look for in a digital frame, here’s an excerpt from the article:

1: WiFi

The newest trend in digital photo frames is WiFi support. And while you don’t need WiFi to enjoy your photos, it’s definitely the way of the future. WiFi allows your frame to access your home network, or any other open wireless network, and stream photos from an online service or your home computer.

2: Audio

Most frames these days come with audio playback, which allows you to load MP3 or other song files onto the frame. Once the songs are on the frame, speakers built in to the frame can play the songs along with your photos, making nice slideshow presentations.

3: Video

Because more and more digital cameras — from point and shoot cameras to SLRs — are including video recording options, it’s important to think about video playback when shopping for a frame. If you do use your camera for video, you will want a frame with playback so you can share the memories with everyone.

4: Display Size

You might want a huge display for that bare wall or a small display to save space on your desk or bedside table. Digital frames come in all shapes and sizes these days. And, depending on hte function you want your frame to perform, you might want big, but you might want small.

5: Management System

First and foremost, does the frame speak your native tongue? Not everyone is a technical wizz in English. So make sure if your Polish grandma is going to get a new frame as a gift, the frame should have Polish support.

Next, a frame either has a built-in file management system or it plays directly off a memory card. Card systems are easy and fast. They don’t require the user to change anything. Just plug in the card, sit back and view photos.
